Though the RO is nice the Ruger gets my vote. That looks to be my first 1911 too when I find one. From what I hear Ruger's investment casting is awesome and they have been casting frames for other manufacturers for years. Early model issues may be a consideration, but Ruger's history tells me to go with them. I never thought I;d say that. Ruger styling has always pushed me away, but they are reliable as hell. Just a guess here but they couldn't possibly screw up a 1911 could they?

I love my RO and it's perfect for what I use it for. I can' imagine going wrong with a Ruger and they have the looks going on as well with their new 1911. I bought my RO for $750. Good luck to you.
