I looked hard at the Garrison but went with the Operator.
I shot one and it’s typical Springfield Armory. A great gun and will last most mortals. It is also a great base gun if you want to add anything in the years to come.

I had a Springfield 30 years ago that ate everything Infed it and my Operator is the same and Garrison is there as well.

Some will scoff because of a few MIM parts but most earth people you will not wear them out any faster with normal use. They work fine.

If your a competition shooter or professional student then simply replace when due as 1911’s take a little more attention (no different than my Daughter has to put premium gas in her 370Z compared to her Subaru)

I've had a Garrison for about 6 months now and it's a great 1911. Nothing super fancy, but for the money it's a fantastic gun. Very accurate, nice crisp trigger and well made. SA's are a great platform to add upgrades to if you want, or it's a great gun as is. The only two downsides I'll admit to are that the edge of the manual safety is a bit sharp (same as on my old Operator) and there is no front strap checkering. You can easily fix both issues. Personally I use Pearce rubber finger grooves on mine to give me better control of the gun instead of having a smooth front strap, but you can also look into either getting a checker insert or having someone do machine work to checker it for you. Here's my beauty:

    MIM???
Well, they make pistons for Indy cars and F1 out of MIM.... so I guess it's suspect in a pistol? Remington shotguns are MIM. When can we stop with the MIM "sky is falling"?
You’ve got a lot of haters in MIM parts. I laugh at some complaints about when S&W went to a MIM trigger and hammer. Like cut some of those older hammers down when bobbing them and see how brittle that metal found underneath the hardening could be.

Disclaimer before someone adds it nobody is talking about the S&W lock MIN parts and how some have a misguided opinion of them. All we are talking about so let it go or start another thread if a lock hurt you!!! (Partially kidding)!

I have one and have been really impressed with it. It outperforms a few others that cost me quite a bit more. I’d definitely recommend one.

I had one and it was a good quality pistol. Shot excellent!!! No complaints here. Id still have it but a close friend of mine never shot a 1911…. And after he did it went home with him :) I would not hesitate to purchase another if I had a need.

Actually I have been running MIM internals now for thousands of rounds and this 4th gen MIM is working out good. I compare it to particle board/ plywood product. Different but does the job.
