Spray paint brands for guns

I've never painted a gun before but I feel the itch and need.

I've heard various things from various sources all claiming X brand was better than Y brand and I've narrowed it down to 3 choices.

So I've come to you for the wealth of knowledge INGO possesses

Krylon
Rustoleum
Alumahyde

The rustoleum seems to have a more favorable track record from what I've gathered but I did see some swear by krylon and they were adamant that rustoleum was beyond inferior - and then the rustoleum crowd would claim the opposite.

Not a ton of talk about alumahyde but I think that's because it's just a Brownells thing I think.

What have you had success with?

I used Krylon Ultra-Flat 4293 Olive for my Noveske build lower and a couple of other parts.
Great color selection.
Smooth application.
Excellent coverage.
Holds up fairly well.

I do have some wear showing after 4 years, but it's minimal.
I figure the Cerakote I had done on my Aero M4 E1 will start showing some wear after 4 years.
Surface prep is the key. Multiple coats.

Aervoe used to make some really nice camo paint but I can’t seem to find any in stock online. They may have stopped making it. I’d use the Rustoleum or Krylon camo aerosol.

I still have some Aervoe left, but if your looking for an alternative Rapco makes a similar paint & colors.

As mentioned above - does anyone else recommend using some type of adhesion promoter? If so, what was it?

I've never used it just clean/degrease really well then a really light tack coat followed by two or three light coats.
