    I bought my first AR before the Clinton AWB for the same reason. The anti-gunners don't realize how many times that happens.

    And then once you own one, you discover how cool and fun they are...and then you end up trying out other rifles that the antis don't like (which are cool and fun too) and pretty soon you are a passionate shooter and/or collector. Evil black rifles would not have become as popular as quickly as they did without the antis pushing their ban - how's that for poetic justice?
