The Steel Challenge Match is on for Saturday the 16th at Atlanta Conservation Club.

    SCSA DETAILS

Atlanta Conservation Club is affiliated with the Steel Challenge Shooters Association (SCSA), who put on the World Speed Shooting Championship in Piru, California (and other venues).

Our matches ARE sanctioned, and you must be an SCSA member in order to be classified.
This match will have 2 SCSA stages, and 4 of my Outlaw stages from years past.

    Saturday's projected weather:
Partly Sunny with a high of ~48.
In case there is a rogue thunderstorm: LIGHTNING will DELAY the match. SHELTER IN YOUR VEHICLE.

    POLICY AT ACC:

THE ACC MEMBERSHIP VOTED AND CLEARLY STATED: LATE REGISTRATION AT MATCHES WILL NOT BE PERMITTED FOR ANY REASON.
MISSING ANY PART OF THE SHOOTER'S MEETING IS CONSIDERED A BREECH OF SAFETY, (DISQUALIFYING YOU FROM THE MATCH).
    Therefore, be punctual!
(This takes care of itself at steel matches because the Match Director will close sign-in BEFORE starting the Shooter Safety Briefings.)

Check-in and cash payments will be near, or in, the “Annex” (shed).

    TIMETABLE: WINTER HOURS:
    • 9:30 – Set-up (Bring gloves!)
    • 10:30 – Check-in
    • 11:00 – MANDATORY Safety Meeting
    • 11:17 – Bang and Clang

    PLEASE PARK ON GRAVEL.

    NOTE:
On match days, ACC IS A COLD RANGE. DO NOT "GUN-UP" IN, OR AT, YOUR CAR.

USE THE SAFE AREAS, PREFERABLY WITH AN R.O., OR JUST WAIT UNTIL THE FIRST STAGE.
You can load magazines anywhere EXCEPT THE SAFE AREAS.
DO NOT remove your gun from its box or bag until you are on the line, ready to compete.
(Or you are at one of the SAFE AREAS, with an R.O. EG: if you need to clean something or check your optics.)

    In summary:
NO handling of weapons away from the safe areas or the firing line.
NO handling of ammunition at the safe areas.
If you are unsure, ask an R.O.

    Stages to be fired:
    • Bay 1 – SPEED OF SOUND
    • Bay 2 – DOUBLE TAP = Double Trap (Tony O.)
    • Bay 3 – PLATE RACK
    • Bay 4 – ACCELERATOR (SCSA 105)
    • Bay 5 – EL SEC DEF.
    • Bay 6 – ROUNDABOUT (SCSA 108)
Bring 300+ rounds of ammo per entry. (Minimum round count: about 150 rounds).
5 (or more) magazines/speed loaders/moon clips will make your day a lot easier.

    SCSA Divisions are:
    • PROD = Production; Double action and “Safe action”. All GLOCKs, Beretta 92, SIG 229, 226.

The match announcement says "Our matches ARE sanctioned, and you must be an SCSA member in order to be classified." Does that mean I have to join SCSA in order to shoot the match tomorrow?

You don't have to be an SCSA member to shoot the matches. (But if you want to see how you stack up versus other shooters, you will want to join.)

Sorry, I was unclear. Anyone/everyone can look up the scores at www.PractiScore.com, then click on the scores tab, and search for "ACC SCSA".

In order to get a classification (a letter grade, like a report card. D, C, B, A, M, GM; where M is Master, and GM is Grand Master) that is when and why you will want to join SCSA.
