You know what I find intriguing...

I find it odd that the same persons who dislike second hand smoke also tend to have no problem stuffing Junk Food down the throats of their little snowflakes. I also find it odd that the same persons think that idling their vehicles all day is less harm to their little snowflakes than one person smoking...

It will not let me rep this, but if I could I would.

This guy is a FLAMING lib. He thinks he knows better, and that all other parents are idiots.

So he will make laws that HE thinks will save us from OURSELVES.

Kick him off the forums says I.
Nah! It's good to know what kinda thinking we're up against. It's a good opportunity to gather intelligence, well, maybe that's not the word I'm looking for.

Yes... the same way I want the government to step in tell ignorant parents you can't give your 5 year old shots of whiskey....

Well, I hear that some kids are highly allergic to peanuts.

Bicycles can kill, and helmets, knee/elbow pads aren't enough.

Sports? Would signing the form to allow them play football be a felony or a misdemeanor in your world?

    etc...

Have you ever been to California? I think you'd really like it: almost every building has a warning to the effect that there's something "known to the State of CA" that will give you cancer lurking inside. There are entire cities (Calabasas is one) that have made smoking tobacco products outside of your home illegal.

Why do you feel it is anyones business? If the government told you that this outfit

was mandatory you would be cool with that? It is none of your business what anyone around you is doing. Mind your own business. If you feel that you should make the rules move to a country/state/planet that likes what you like.

I think it's time to either move the thread to politics, break room, or close it. Kinda outlived the OP's point. Oh hey, that's me!

I recently was involved in a bit of a dust-up on facebook because I was against the smoking ban for Indiana. I believe the individual should act with other individuals to convince a company to change smoking policy if they wish (as I tried to do here by way of the gun community and a gunshop). But for individuals to use the power of the government to force a company to comply with their own personal preferences is wrong.

Whether it's government mandated birth control (only $9 at Walmart anyway), no smoking in private businesses, or forced purchase of healthcare. It's all wrong and unconstitutional.

    Man, I love this thread!

Pro-Choice? You either are or you aren't. You can't pick and choose what should and shouldn't be. You want the guberment controlling us or you don't. Black and white, yes or no. It's an easy question.

My business is my business and I don't want anyone else telling me what I can/can't do, what I can or can't eat, drink, smoke, do, drive, fly, ride, wear....you get the idea. If you really want the guberment to ban smoking in a private business, what else are you willing to have them regulate? Everything? Not me.

This is full of win. Exactly what I'm talking about.:yesway:

Got him too. I always thought it was extremely hypocritical. All that ranting and raving about smoking and then they get in their nice pollution spewing cars and drive off.

I would respect them a bit more if they gave up their vehicles but then it is all a matter of convenience.

You leave the welfare of children solely into the hands of parents and you will no doubt get all kinds of results. Parents will bring kids into night clubs, strip clubs the secret porn room in the local video store.

We don't live in a world where every kid has perfect parents... if we did, we wouldn't be having this discussion, nor would there be a need for laws of any sort. We would all just be perfect delicate snowflakes... or whatever you said before

You are right, we do not live in a world with perfect parents. Some people beat and starve their children and you are worried about a little or a lot of 2nd hand smoke.

I have been a smoker for almost 43 years and I have not even turned 42 yet. Both parents smoked 2 packs or more a day while I was still in my moms womb, yet I dare say I am healthier than more than half the people on this forum. From what everyone preaches as gospel about the dangers of cigarette smoke I should have died of cancer a few years back.

I can't wait to buy a gun off of Bob this weekend at the 1500. Last fall I saw him smoking behind his table inside the building. All I can say is good for him.

I guess I have a diferent view of what treating a customer right is.

No, not really. No matter how hard you try you cannot make everyone happy. Smoke free is what some people want. OK, but there are others (typically smokers) who like the atmosphere where they can smoke. Just the owner's choice to cater to a certain group that smoke or who don't care about the smoke.

Yes we do have a difference in opinion on how to treat a Customer Right is.

Personally, I do not care what you do as the Owner of Said Business, as long as that activity is Legal. The things I do care about are certainly nothing as trivial as Smoking inside your own building....
