Just acquired this, I’ve been wanting a Smith J frame for a while, if I’m looking up the serial number right, I think it might be a 1956 manufactured gun, any of you Smith gurus can correct me if I’m wrong, not posting the serial # but if someone has any info I’ll pm… flat latch, hammer mounted firing pin, don’t have original grips, but I like the pachmyr grips. Oh yes, 3 screw side plate…

Nice find!! 1956 is pre-M36 IIRC.

Nice J frame! Smith & Wesson web forum may help. Keep an eye on your ammo, back dated may be best. Read that as limited +P, or none. Factory has specs. Good luck.

5 number serial starts with 91xxx trying to find info...Ok I've found out the 3 screws are actually newer, starting in 1961, so back to the research...

Semi range report .......(not a Trapper Jim quality) shot slightly high, at 7 yards, but that might be my eyes. It was minute of fist, again, that is more than likely me... shot smooth, and a little bark, as a .38 snubbie should be....
Went to Falls City Firearms, and of course Rick had an original set of grips for the Chiefs Special, so I bought them…. P.S. I still like the feel of the Pachmyr grips…..

I have my grandfathers 10-5, he never shot it always kept it by his recliner, not my cup of tea was gonna list it, but still like my model 28 better. They’re still a cool gun.

Had the models 36/37/60 back in the 1980’s my daughters have the 36/60.
I traded a model 29 and that 37 on an AR that I still have now, but I sure loved those snubs.
