Certainly a very real and serious possibility. Wouldn't take much to send us back to the 1800's. Computers control every bit of our day to day lives. Banks, fuel supply, medical services, food distribution, electrical service, communications. Not a pretty scenario.

I'm very curious about the Russain cyber attacks on the Ukraine. Wonder how those were isolated to only Ukraine govt sites?

This is where the big problem likely lies. No one has the lift capacity to get lots of troops here. Nukes are internationally risky and EMPs could invite counterattack by surviving weapons. Cyberattack has proven to work, and we've done very little to prevent it. What could be taken down in a targeted attack would make the ChiCom virus look like a Sunday picnic.

Not true. There has been a huge focus on Cybersecurity in both the private and public sector.

This is another arms race, with the defense having a couple of big disadvantages. One being, people are stupid. You can count on your users doing stupid :poop: which can let bad guys in. The other is everything has vulnerabilities. Finding those vulnerabilities is challenging. Fixing them can be too. The bad guys just have to attack the ones that are missed, not maintain everything.
