I purchased this new from a dealer in July 1996. I've shot it periodically over the years, but not a high round-count in total. The gun has always been cleaned and properly lubricated after each shooting session and looks nearly new. I've never had a failure of any type in this gun...it runs very good. It normally resides in a humidity controlled vault and is in excellent shape.
The accuracy is respectable for this particular Mini-14, but I installed an Accu-Strut to improve it further and give it that M14 look. The installed Tech-Sights rear peep really is an improvement upon the original rear sight and provides windage and elevation adjustment. At one point I installed the Butler Creek folding stock, but have long since returned the action to the OEM stock. YOU GET BOTH STOCKS! The OEM ventilated handguard has been replaced with a Choate ventilated synthetic handguard for a more trim appearance.
