I just picked up a Ruger LCR in a 38 special. I need to go pick up some ammo for it. Anybody with these have any suggestions for something good for plinking? What about something for a self defense round....should it be something in a +P? Thanks all....can't wait to shoot this!

I carry the Gold Dot 135 gr. +P in it. I've shot some through it as well and they are accurate and the recoil doesn't seem too bad.

For SD the new "wonderloads" is the Gold Dot 135 +P, the DPX Corbon (I think federal may also load these in on of their lines). Tried in true is the 'fbi load' which all the manufacturers produce which is the 158 LHP +P. I carry gold dots for what it is worth and like them.

BUG's: .380 ACP vs. .38 Sp - M4Carbine.net Forums is a good write up on bullet performance on .380 and .38. Hope this helps.

For the "FBI" load (158gr LSWCHP+P) get the Remington version. The other recommendations are good too.

For plinking... I reload for $6/box.
