Purchased a new R92 in 454 Casull smooth action and nice fit and finish, other than it’s stainless as I prefer blue.

I don’t reload 454 yet so I found some reasonably priced 454 loads. They are 325 hard cast gas check HSM with advertised velocity in the 1,300 FPS range. Recoil was like shooting my win 94 44 mag with 240g Winchester white box mild in my opinion.

At 30 yards this round shot 6” low with the rear sight raised as high as it will go. Now that I have brass I’m gonna load up some 240 g XTP and put a little more velocity downrange and see if it’s just the loads.

Couple questions has Anyone shot these rounds and is that normal? Anyone know of a quality higher rear sight or lower front sight that will fit the Rossi? The rear sight on this rifle is less than desirable in my opinion.

    Thanks for any input.

I have the identical rifle in blue.
I can't say I've shot the ammo you have so I can't speak to that.
I've only run a few boxes through mine, but I know I had good results with,
Mag Tech .454 Casull 260gr sjsp
    Hornady Cistom .454 Casull 240gr XTP/MAG
The Hornady is rated at 2000 fps at muzzle!
I've also had fantastic results with some custom ammo I had made up by Ike's Custom Ammunition
These are about as hot as you can load .45Colt, and I had to promise not to use them in anything but the Rossi and my Taurus Raging Bull
    The .45Colt loads are 260gr HP-XTP and I think I was told they were running about 1100fps. IMG_20230720_182714221.jpg IMG_20230720_182725431.jpg IMG_20230720_182734679.jpg
I've taken more than one deer with the Hornady, but the MagTech and especially the Ike's Custom work best for me.

I have shot the round a lot (not out of a Rossi) and my handgun (Ruger Super Redhawk) is spot on in that range
