I am retiring soon, and just might use that as an excuse to make another purchase. I like 1911 firearms (and wheelguns, but that side is full). I have a full size, and officer size and a compact frame, so 5", 4", 3" barrel 1911s.

What about a long slide 1911, something in a six inch barrel? What are the real, if any, advantages to having a long barreled 1911? I do not have any gun in .45acp. .357SIG, .40S&W, 9mm and .22lr in semiautos, wheelguns are .22lr, .22wmr, and .327FedMag.\

What is the collective wisdom of INGO in regards to long slide 1911s?

    Thanks, y'all!

6" long slide in 460 Rowland? Takes care of the 45acp thing as well as 45 super.

I always wanted one of these, .45 Winchester Magnum. Probably not easy to find now, parts the same way, and then God forbid the price for ammo. But it is a want, not a need.

Go for an iconic Beretta 92. Seems like just yesterday Army adopted. I’m few years away from retirement and have promised myself the 92X Performance. Good luck in retirement!

I've spent some time behind a long slide 45 and felt it had less muzzle rise. The longer site radius helped me shoot smaller groups.

It's a bit much for carry, but a great range gun.
