Some girlfriends of mine are coming in from out of town. Looking for a decent place to eat, preferably downtown or north of there, Caramel is even an option. Something not to expensive yet also that we can sit comfortably and chat after the meal is over. Sushi is the only thing we all agree we don't want. Looking for unique, not necessarily a chain store.

    Thanks Guys

it's not precisely my cup of tea, but the "ladies who lunch" seem to give Cafe Patachou high marks for being the type of place you describe. It's locally owned, but there are a few of them so I guess it is technically a "chain". There is one right downtown, one a touch north of downtown and one in Carmel, so the locations seem spot on. I can't complain about the food - it's quite good; it's just not my kind of place, I guess.

Lots of others have posted some great Places. But one of the most unique dining experiences I have had is "The Melting Pot" located in Castleton. Its a Fondue restaurant. But it was not anything like I thought it would be! My wife and I went there for our anniversary a while back and had their "Big night Out" dinner. At least I think that was what it was called, anyway truly unique!

Just drive up Keystone to 86"th Street, and turn right. Boom, you are right in the North side's densest restaurant zone. You can go all the way to Castleton, and see fine/casual dining all along the way. Just be aware that all the rich people apparently never eat in, so if you are going for dinner, leave early or you'll be waiting in line for an hour.
