Just got a workbench for Christmas. Starting to reload as soon as I get some wood to mount the press on so I don't have to drill through the worktop.

This has been extremely helpful! My New Years resolution is to jump into reloading with both feet. I've noticed that some guys have their powder locked in a safe while others have it either in a cabinet or sitting on a shelf. What is the most correct way to store? Is locked up in a safe necessary or would a nice cabinet with a lock suffice?

Should I make my bench 30 inch wide or standard 25 inches wide. I would love the extra space but I'm having a hard time finding counter top for 30 inch.

I was browsing at menards one day and found a sheet of 1" laminate plywood. it has countertop covering on both sides. I bought it and made a false top for my already very heavy bench. it is about 30" by 7' very sturdy setup.

Wow looks like this thread is asleep no new stuff for two weeks! :dunno:

Nothing much new here either other than that I am now also loading .45 ACP in addition to 9mm. I needed a new rack to hold both the large and small primer pickup tubes as well as the magazine tube that is not in use at the time so this was what I built (painted Dillon blue of course). Also built a sub-base for the tool-head stand that also holds the primer bar that is not in use and a little stand for my powder pan and a rack for the case gauges. Sometimes it's the simple things that make life easier. Little by little the reloading area is improving. :)

    Clean!

Looks great, clean and neat (may have to give that a try someday :D)! Nice looking mount on the wall too though I do not personally ever remember seeing a 'Yote with a rack. Bassalope? :)

I wanted to make mine wider too but you run into issues if you need to move the bench since typical doors are less than 30".

I'm still waiting on my press but I'm going to build my bench tomorrow. How much overhang do I need to leave on the front to mount my press?

Depends on the press. Be careful. If you use a standard kitchen counter top overhang, the mounting holes for the press will interfere with the frame of the bench. At least it did with my Rock Chucker. Not good engineering on RCBS's part IMO. I have about a 3/4" overhang and I will be able to bolt mine down, though I have decided that I am going to mount it to some kind of plate and just C-clamp it since the bench is multi-use.
