Without airing too much my family's laundry...my mom wants to leave her house to my daughter, who isn't of age. She wants to protect it from other family members and/or their spouses. Any INGOer's have any lawyer recommendations?
It's my understanding that an Irrevocable trust passes things along with much less or no taxes,
While a revocable trust is subject to a butt load of taxes.
Anything over $600,000 is going to get pounded with taxes...
The most simple way to leave property to someone in Indiana is to amend the deed with joint ownership with full survivor rights.
The property passes directly to the person on the deed without taxes and it can't be challenged.
It's not advertised since you can do it at the court house without a lawyer.
My mother did this, and I've done it with my wife on everything I own.
Anything with a title or deed can be done this way, vehicles, RVs, campers, homes, real estate, etc.
She's the co-owner, so it's hers when I kick... (Poor woman will have to sort through all this junk)
