came into possession of a LCR .357 today. Owned a couple revolvers over the years but haven't really messed with them enough to know the ins and outs. This gun looks new and everything functions well, cylinder cycles properly, trigger is smooth and breaks when and where it should.
. There is a rattle that seems to be coming from the hammer area if you wobble the gun back and forth. So is that normal for this gun our is it something I should have checked out before shooting?

Kinda of same boat here. Just bought a .38 LCR according to the manual the rattle is normal. I shot mine today and function was fine.

I must have missed that. I looked in the manual to see if it mentioned it and didn't see it. Have to go back through. Thanks. Good to know it's not just this gun.

I had an LCR in .357 a while back. It had the same slight rattle. As the previous poster said, it's normal for this model. I don't remember where it was in the manual, but I remember reading it as well.

I have an LCR .357 as well and it's the transfer bar you're hearing "rattle"-- an internal safety mechanism. Your gun is fine.

Yeah I found it in there. Not sure how I missed it the first time when I was specifically looking for it. I'm not gonna lie though, I guess I am too anal because this drives me absolutely nuts. Picked it up in a trade less than 12 hours ago and will probably trade it off within a week.lol.

    I'd gladly trade my no-lock 642 (2012) manufacture....:)

    I'm jackkin' the thread...;)

I've shot several hundred rounds though my LCR.

Now the cylinder will not freely spin. It will turn by hand but not spin.
I have oiled it but no effect.

I'm ready to send it back to Ruger.

    Thoughts anyone?

    Oiling with what?
    Clp?
Have you taken the shaft out of the cylinder and cleaned it up?

I have cleaned all exposed metal on the shaft & cylinder ( I have not taken the shaft total apart ) with CLP then blew it off. Lightly oiled the shaft with Lucas Gun Oil.

It actually feels like the shaft in the cylinder is slightly bent and dragging it, causing the cylinder not to spin freely.

Do you make a habit of spinning the cylinder and "flipping" it shut like they do in the movies? That causes issues in revolvers like the one you speak of.

    Yeah, don't do that.

Me, I'd be taking the shaft out to do a thorough cleaning job on it and the shaft hole in the cylinder.
