Possibility of a Group Purchase of 5.56 Bulk Ammo?

my #1 LGS (TopGuns in Terre Haute) has a big amount of 5.56
in 62 grain M855 green tip Armor Piercing Ammo. Retail is about
$.45 per round before tax. I have a good bit of this. It is Lake City!

just an FYI M855 is NOT armor piercing. Increased penetration, yes... AP, no. It does have a steel penetrator, but true AP in 5.56 has a tungsten penetrator. I'm not trying to sound like a D-bag, but I work with ballistics everyday. That said it's a good round, my general go actually, but it's not a true AP round.

We have shot 1/2" AR500 with SS109 and had no issues with it. I was even able to recover a mushroomed steel core. I don't know how it would fair against a lower AR steel though.

This was at 500 yards, just for reference.

Pretty much everything I have is AR500. I definitely wouldn't shoot the 7.62x54R stuff at it. I'll have to try the green tip stuff the next time I'm at the range.

Seems like this GP is T!ts up, Y'all! Nothing under $.45/round anywhere I have seen in a year.

Looks like the best bet is to buy an AK, I have seen 7.62x39 for $.23/round! Might do that...
