My wife and I took a weekend trip to Tennessee over the weekend. On a whim on the way home we went to Cumberland falls. I saw the exit sign and decided why not. So glad we did I wasn't expecting it to be this beautiful. We decided as long as money works out we are taking the kids to stay somewhere in or around Daniel Boone national forest in June. Saw this guy on Campbell lead road just before overlook drive in Gatlinburg. Car in front of and behind us were stopped as were the cars in the other lane so we took the opportunity to snap some pictures from inside the car while we waited. IMG_20230425_185904~2.jpg
Also seen some folks doing dumb tourist stuff with a sow and 3 cubs, she wasn't too happy about it. She did a false charge and then stood on her hind legs and started vocalizing her concerns lol. They were about 75yds away from us with the people being probably 5 yards from the cubs. I decided the idiots probably weren't worth the expensive 10mm I had should she actually charge and I left.

The Cumberland Falls pictures made me think of the Tahquamenon Falls in the UP.

Then that made me think of Pictured Rocks

If you get the chance, you should check out the Natural Bridge in the Red River Gorge area, which is in the London District of Daniel Boone National Forest I think. Went there back in 2015. You ride a skylift to the top of the hill where you can hike to the natural arch, where you can walk across it. There is also a pizza joint at the base of the hill about a 1,000 yards from the bridge called Miguel's Pizza. They have nearly fifty toppings you can choose from (yes pineapple is one of them), and is also where I had anchovies for the first time, yick! Supposed to be one of the rock climbing capitols of the world.

Same here. People swear that the big white puff-balls are great to eat when they’re solid. I am still too chicken to try it.
They are. Sliced like bread, coated with spiced breading and fried in butter, they are some of the best.

These grow in the same spot in my yard every year. This one is about 14" around and has begun to decay. When it was fresh I initially thought it was a neighbor's soccer ball until I got up close.

    Never knew they were edible.
