Killed in action the week before, the body of Sergeant First Class John
C. Beale was returned to Falcon Field in Peachtree City, Georgia, just
south of Atlanta, on June 11, 2009. The Henry County Police Department
escorted the procession to the funeral home in McDonough, Georgia. A simple notice in local papers indicated the road route to be taken and the
approximate time.
This is a 12 1/2 minute video that you'll be glad you watched. It shows very clearly that patriotism and respect are alive and well in parts of our land and will make you proud of our fellow citizens. Way too often, all we hear about are the idiots who do disrespectful things and it is easy to forget that so many great Americans are out there. Too bad this isn't being broadcast as an infomercial for patriotism on Saturdays instead of yet another program on how to flip houses or get better abs.
When you watch this and see the thousands of people who turned out for the procession, keep in mind that it was on June 11, 2009...which was a Thursday...a WORK day. I for one am incredibly proud that so many people had their priorities in the right place on that Thursday last month.
I'd also like to propose that my fellow INGOers keep an eye out for news of any fallen Hoosiers who are returning home. If it is at all possible to do it, I'd love to see a few hundred of us on the route to show the respect that our fallen soldiers deserve. Patriotism is infectious and it can't hurt for the sheeple to see an outpouring of respect for our men and women in uniform.
God forbid it gives some of them reason to pause and reflect on what is really important.
