Just accepted a DOD Civ position overseas in Bahrain. Packing up the family
and moving over in the next 45 to 60 days. I'm an infrequent poster, but
am on here almost every night reading. Going to miss being here in Indiana
and especially miss being able to hunt here with my sons, but we are moving
on to another chapter in our lives.

Best of luck! I'm guessing Navy with Bahrain (5th Fleet and all). They got Internet, INGO is a couple clicks away.

Thanks all. The only thing they allow you to bring in there are kitchen knives and swords ?
Can't figure that one out. Might need to invest in some ninja swords or something.....

I will recommend a heavy European-type military blade. Scimitars are strictly slashing weapons and a good broadsword is a good counter, and also gives you more options against which the scimitar is relatively ill-suited. Then again, if a hypothetical assailant is living this side of the 20th century, you are SOL.

Bahrain is safe as Mumsy's arms.

That's what I hear. People who have been stationed in Norfolk or San Diego state they felt
safer in Bahrain that they did in the states.

True story, one guy said he drove into an anti gov't protest over there and when they saw he was
american they stopped the protest, waved him through, then started back up again? I can deal with that....

I assume you mean these arms:

    Not these arms:

    Or these arms:

That is the way we are looking at it. My 13 yr old son is looking at it as a chance to live in another culture. He is way positive about it,
for which I am grateful. He is a trooper, as is my wife for rogering up for an accompanied tour instead of me going out there on my own.
