I do, but this morning I actually slept until my second alarm (1st goes off at 3, second went off at 4:30) and was tempted to stay in bed, but I didn't.

After car plates this week, AR is next for me (soon). New to me, actually. Shot many, never owned.
Mini14s since I heard of them, but they seem limited to me these days.

I do, but it's usually much closer when I wake, like a few minutes.
With the old cat before she passed, it was literally one or two minutes before the alarm. I have no idea how she knew what time it was.

I set the alarm, but generally wake up before it goes off. Mental clock kicks in.

What did they talk about and teach?

Quite a lot. Probably too much. We had about an hour sitting and listening. Some of it was rules of service rifle competition. Then sling use, grip, natural point of aim, shooting prone, standing. Trying to line up bone on bone. He had a hand out.
Then about an hour shooting. I learned you almost have to have a good spotting scope. you can't run back and forth at 100 yards to check results. oh and at 100 yards don't blame the wind unless you are shooting in a hurricane

I haven't set an alarm or over 10 years. Probably about the time the wife got sick. I didnt want anything waking her.
