isn't RS trim a hidden headlight Camaro? I can only find SS examples with the paint matched steelies, but I know I have seen this style with hidden headlights - that's what I meant earlier, anyway

WHOA!! Far left is Cordovan Maroon with black vinyl top!! So was my 68 with a 327. That's a big block 396 with correct black grill on an SS. Others had a grey grill.

RS (Rally Sport) had the headlight doors. 1967 the door were vacuum operated. So unreliable that the 68 owners manual (still have mine!!) had directions and pictures for removing the headlight doors. 1968 they went with a much more dependable electrically actuated system.

SS/RS: SS emblems took precedent, but they had the headlight doors. Rare but awesome Z/28/RS did as well.

SS with a big block 396 had a blacked out tail-light panel.

Z/28 and SS were performance packages, RS was an appearance package. Z/28 had a 302 with a 4-speed, SS had either a 350 or one of two 396 options. SS could have 3-speed automatic or manual.

Z/28: these badges were not on the 67, and didn't appear until April 1968. The 67 and early 68 Z/28s sported the 302 badge on the front of the fenders.

Did I mention I really like 1st gen Camaros?

    Wasn't there also a 427 option?
That was through the COPO (central order processing office?) and IIRC the 427 badge was red vice white. The Yenko (a dealership in Virginia) Camaros had 427s and the unique stripes.

Part of me would love to have one of these cars again. The other part would be scared to take it out of the garage, I’d get hit with a meteor before getting it to the road.

T-minus 57 minutes. I'm calling the Grove up first. We are overdue for a Rylan (AKA the shaggin wagon guy) appearance.
