..... formerly near the Wild Turkey
The only way for Gary to become even a shadow of its former self is with investment. I see the casino as a step in the right direction. Hopefully the area surrounding the Hard Rock Casino will become flush with commercial zoning that will lead to further economic growth in the area.

If Detroit can be turned around, Gary can, too.

I hadn't heard that Detroit got turned around. I did hear it was somewhat deserted and that you could buy a fixer-upper home cheap. But that's been years, so ... :dunno:

Well I was not going to reply, but...

Gary will not be improved by that abomination. Nothing that is done around it will only be to serve the traffic it creates.

Gary will continue to deteriorate and all of the money that people would have to put into drugs, alcohol and hookers will now be concentrated in that small area.

No one is going to rebuild Broadway, Grant Street, 5th Avenue, or the Hospital.

It will eat up City services. When I passed yesterday am there were no less than 4 GPD cars and that is all I saw. That was before 10 am. I will definitely avoid the area at prime after work times.

The West bound exit lane for Burr St is 2.5 miles long and I used it all the times, but may have to go to Cline Ave and backtrack.

Please do not think that the inconvience is my primary concern.

I hate to think about the lives that will be ruined, mostly the children. :wow: how liberal that last line sounds.

    :soapbox: :ranton::oldwise:

    I do. Classic cliffhanger.
I dreaded watching it as I saw the preview a few days ago.

Everybody was happy dresses for the Wedding.

I envisioned the cartels opening fire and almost everyone going down. Having to wait until next season to see who survived and who did not, was the baby lost...

As it happened I was a bit releaved, but they have me for nest season.

    Unless...

I do have to say that the season 2 cliff hanger was weak, and the resolution in season 3 was unbelievably too easy.

There's been a lot of investment in Detroit that has the city moving in positive directions, with no shortage of case studies on the various ways Detroit has seen improvement.

Here's an article about JP Morgan Chase's investment projects in the city of Detroit.
Detroit has been attracting a lot of tech business.
Downtown Detroit's Capitol Park revitalization has yielded positive gains on all aspects surrounding the area.
This Forbes article is a great read about the city's comeback and the initiatives that are being implemented to get there.

That's just a few I wound up finding while casually searching. My knowledge of Detroit's turnaround first came about hearing the city attracting tech companies, as I'm in IT. After then, I got to visit Detroit through a previous role and, as I inquired more about the city, they all were very happy to share about the strides being made.

So, all it takes is people to care... and deep pocketbooks. ;)

When I first saw this year's arc I thought it was going all social justice.

I feel they are actually handling that portion pretty evenly. It is showing interested parties with deep convictions of their own beliefs having discussions and gaining perspectives of the others position.

I had no idea this was even happening. I have zero connection to detroit so the last time I was there it looked like somalia, I assumed it was the same now. I suppose minneapolis has taken it's place now.

Well, I tried to get my generator and push mower going today.
    Unsuccessful.

Snowblower serviced and ready for next year.
    Same for the leaf vacuum.

I was on a roll. So I took off the dang tires on my 2 wheel cart that are ALWAYS DEFLATED.
    ALWAYS.
Bought new solid tires for the generator also. Well, it won't start, but the tires are on.
The 2 wheel cart, of course the tires were like a quarter inch wider. So they no longer fit on the axle.
    What the ACTUAL F***!!!!!!!
Bought a threaded rod for the axle. And then ran out of energy.

All that money and you have a push mower.

No. I have a John Deere 100 series riding mower.
It gets used all the time.
And it received it's yearly service a few days ago.

And that is why my push mower won't start.
Because I haven't run it in... I can't remember when.

And I used to run the generator every month.
    And then I stopped.
