Well, there's another political movement noted for putting dissenters into mental hospitals.

    I don't get it.

HOW is this article calling "deniers" crazy?

PLEASE NOTE: This post is in no way "pushing" an agenda.

NOTE 2: Some of your fellow INGOers want to hear two sides to the issues... not just the conservative agenda.

Here comes your new tax. Using the excuse of "stopping climate change", the new world government is going to tax everything in order to fund their agenda. Enjoy.

    Climate draft accord agreed December 18, 2009 - 3:32PM

Leaders and ministers from about 30 countries hammered out an outline climate accord early on Friday morning, hours before some 130 world leaders were to gather in a summit.

The three-hour session ended at about 2.30am, leaving top advisers to work out the final language of the draft agreement on how to tame global warming and help poor countries cope with its impacts.

Advisers resumed work almost immediately to craft a document that could be presented to heads of state and government at 8am.
    .....
The declaration will likely call for preventing global temperatures from going up more than 2.0 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial times, according to a participant in the meeting. Small island nations, their very existence threatened by rising seas, have called for a cap of 1.5 degrees.

It will also tally up the pledges from rich nations on cutting greenhouse gases by 2020, and propose a target for all countries by mid-century.

On financing for the poor countries most vulnerable to the ravages of climate change, it crystallised a consensus that has formed in the previous two days of the troubled UN talks.

It would kick off with billion (.28 billion) a year from 2010 to 2012, climbing to billion (.39 billion) annually by 2015 and billion (.78 billion) by 2020.

The text also proposes a range of innovative mechanisms for raising the money, ranging from a tax on air and sea transports fuels to a tax on financial transfers.

On another critical issue, the draft calls for transforming the political accord and relevant UN texts into a binding treaty within six months.

If the declaration is accepted at the summit, negotiators will then transpose its objectives into the texts that have laboriously emerged over two years of negotiations under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Poor nations have complained bitterly over the course of the 12-day talks in Copenhagen, steered by the host country Denmark, about being locked out of key meetings, an objection that could resurface on Friday. ...

did anybody actually read the article?

What it says is that it is NORMAL to have these beliefs... That is just about exactly opposite of the assertion being made here.

    To everyone except bigus_D:

Read the article, you bunch of n00bs. Your epic failures at reading comprehension are what make us look crazy, not our disbelief in man-made global warming.

Of course it doesn't question anything about AGW, it just accepts it as a given and argues what velvet glove methods should be used to convince people to do what the climate Nazis want. The iron fist is being forged in Copenhagen.

Now go read the very long (over 150 pages) academic paper the article was based on. While not going so far as to say that skeptics are mentally ill, the paper:

    1. Assumes that climate change is a fact
    2. Assumes climate change is significantly affected by man
    3. Determines to discover how psychology can help reduce the effects of climate change.
    4. Examines the psychological barriers to mitigating climate change.

The overall assumption is that climate change is a fact, some people don't believe it, and among other things, how can psychologists help skeptics overcome their psychological barriers.

I don't think anybody here is endorsing the accuracy of this paper or article. It's obviously a load of crap.

But nowhere does it imply that deniers are "crazy", as the thread title and many of the comments seem to assume. Alarmism and unfounded assumptions are equally dangerous on both sides of the fence.
