I've sworn off of buying new guns many times. I've been able to actually keep from buying them for as much as a month or two. Now, on the odd occasion that my wife actually notices a new purchase and asks 'Is that new?', I always reply 'No, I've had this a while and was just cleaning it'. There is enough ambiguity in 'a while' to cover anything from 10 days to 10 years.
