Had some of this ALICE gear a long time. Lost the pack and flak jacket ages ago playing paintball. Replaced the med ALICE pack (no frame) recently. Put everything back together for a backup set/lighter summer load out. New buckles, tab loops, etc. as needed. Rolled excess lashing and elec. taped for pull tabs when cinching down. The shoulder straps of pack are threaded through lbv strap loops helping to hold everything together, easily removed.

    Med backpack
    LBV-88 vest
    Buttpack
    2x canteens (1 w/ cup & stove)
    Compass pouch
    Flashlight pouch (modern)
    USMC Ka-bar

Ruck mod: chair + pack frame combo. Will get the opportunity to test this weekend on an overnight hike/camp.

Shoulder straps and waist pad/belt removed from pack, and installed on folding stool. Waist pad attachment points on ruck upgraded to modern Nexus buckles.
Frame pocket on ruck slides over seat bar, buckles around the two legs below. Quite sturdy once cinched down. To remove simply undo bottom buckles, lift pack off frame.

Also added a chest strap for extra measure, and some padding on the top bar (seat back) using a pool noodle and tape. Unforeseen byproduct: the small section of chair hanging below the pack helps in attaching bedroll as well.

Further and final testing proved the chair-frame to be a bust. Just didn't quite hit the fitment quality I wanted.

No loss! Found a FILBE frame online for quite a steal. All rigged up with a few additional buckle upgrades. Cannibalized an unused Condor H-harness for chest strap and additional hardware.
