Can anyone tell me did Winchester (back in the day late 1800's early 1900's) ever make the model 94 in 45 Long Colt caliber? Or was the pistol calibers mostly used on the Winchester 1873's or ? Appreciate any info/ Thanks.

The 45 colt (which is the 45 long colt) was originally a black powder cartridge. Today's commercial loading has a 250 grain bullet and 860 fps muzzle velocity, giving it 411 ft lbs muzzle energy.
However, if you reload for the Ruger Redhawk, you can load to the power of a hot 44 magnum cartridge. (I have one and have shot some - does kick a lot!

45 Colt was for years a proprietary Colt cartridge. In the beginning there simply wasn't enough rim for a lever gun extractor to get a grip on. The rims have gotten bigger over time so this cartridge has moved into lever guns, but that relatively recently.

The 1873 and 1892 were chambered for 32-20, 38-40, and 44-40. The model 1894 really moves into the smokeless era quickly, but starts out with the 32-40 and 38-55, both originally BP cartridges.

A note of caution when going to high pressure 45Colt loads. While the modern Rugers and such have no worries all 45 Colt Brass is not equal in head strength. Bee careful out there.
