Fellow INGOers,
Recently I have posted a couple of times on Facebook (unprecedented for myself) relating to guns and fighting back at the mainstream media. I have only posted twice as I do not want to alienate my Facebook friends who may have opposing views. I wanted to do it in a way that presented facts that cannot be argued. I do not have the Facebook friend base to really reach out to many people. I thought it would be a good idea to post here on INGO what my latest post was in hopes that people would copy and past on their wall/timeline (or whatever they call it these days), or whatever form of social media they wish. I'm not sure this tactic is very effective and am curious to hear what others think.
Thank you.

Is the sky really falling?
With all this talk of the evil black rifles and gun control these past few weeks, one would think that we are living in a dangerous and vile society and guns are to blame. What’s worse is that the politicians and the media are creating a perception that the US is going downhill faster than the Titanic.
What if I told you 20 years ago that in 20 years you would be living in a society where there are almost as many guns as there are people and nearly half of all Americans owned a gun? Well, that day is today. The number of guns in the US has been outpacing the population. Let’s face it; making a gun is much quicker than making a baby.
Let’s take a step back for a moment and look at this by the numbers. In 1992 the population was 255,029,699 with a violent crime rate of 757.7 per 100,000 and a murder/non-negligent manslaughter rate of 9.3 per 100,000. Fast forward 19 years to 2011 the population was 311,591,917 with a violent crime rate of 386.3 per 100,000 and a murder/non-negligent manslaughter rate of 4.7 per 100,000.
Nope, I did not get those numbers backwards; there is in fact half the violent crime and murder/non-negligent manslaughter rate than there was almost 20 years ago! All while having a larger population and more guns! Is the sky really falling?
This information was obtained from our friends at the FBI and I will provide the link below. I sincerely hope that we can keep this trend up while preserving our freedoms. To help preserve those freedoms, please check out the first link provided and tell Congress that you do not support a ban on any type of firearm or limit of magazine capacity.
Thank you and have a happy Gun Appreciation day!
