How safe is the monon trail?? This weekend we have some friends coming down and thought we would hit the monon.
Is it safe(r) on the weekend vs a weekday? Probably do dinner and then walk...so maybe 8PM will be out and about?
Should I be worried? Should I carry?

    Thanks!

Lot of thugs use the trail, I'd have a package ready.

Yes, be prepared for the gangsters on stolen bikes...they'll even steal your little girl's bike !!

You should always carry.... the trail has nothing to do with it.
    This.

Take all of the normal safety precautions (travel in a group, stay aware, avoid dark/unlit areas, etc...).

The trail seems to be a tad safer up in your area, as compared to downtown. However, it is still a nice secluded area, away from prying eyes, target-rich, and not patrolled frequently.

Can't speak about all portions of the Trail, but north of 96th St there's never been any issues with safety that I know of. However, the 96th St lot has had cars broken into from time to time.

I think that as long as you don't let the sun set on your butt, you should be fine from Broadripple up.
