Sure like I said I have replaced my barrels with fast twist barrels in order to use heavy bullets as that what they make now days.
Are you aware that the Sierra .224 69 grain MK was introduced 40 years ago in 1984 for service rifle competition? One needed at least a 8" twist or a long barrel to make that work back then.

Sure I use them in my 1/9 twist AR's as my defensive load, that I have owned for 25 plus years, and my other AR runs a 1/8 barrel for 77 grain Nosler bullets. I run 2 bolt guns in 223 with 1/8 twist barrels for P-dogs with 50 grain Blitz King, 55 grain Blitz King bullets and 77 grain TMK bullets for P-dogs.

I am a old guy and been loading for over 45 years and shooting P-dogs for 40 years with only missing one year on the towns due to health reasons.

I'm guessing that I'm older than you my friend, lol
My younger brother lives outside of Leadville, Co. We've worn out a few Cooper rifles killin dogs out west.
Both of these, a 223 and a 221 Fireball have been re barreled at least once by Cooper.
I load the 45 and 55 Blitz for them.

Us old farts just get used to the years, I remember 40 years ago P-dog towns that went on for miles in SD. I have one 22-250 that is ready for it's fourth barrel, and I don't have a P-dog gun that hasn't worn 2 or more barrels. Shoot mostly Remington actions with a Nucleus, and a Solus action being my newest builds. Not much into wood stocks but love the looks of your Coopers! Mine are Fiberglass and Chassis systems as they can take a beating, riding in the UTV.

Used to shoot 22 Hornet and 222 Remington, but now days it's .223, 22-250, 6XC, and 6mm Remington. New build is a 22 GT/ 6mm GT Switch barrel on the Solus action (when the barrels get done) both with 1/7.5 twist barrels. The 6XC is a Nucleus action with left hand twist 28" Bartlein barrel, gain twist 12 to 10 for 85 grain Sierra #1530 bullets at 3450 FPS with H4831 or H4350 and Peterson small rifle brass.

Thank you, I have cousins that own a store in Maryland, the older one is friends with Dan Cooper and when Dan owned Cooper we were given really really good deals.
They were too good to pass up each year.
I'm a 700 man myself, I would rather shoot a 40X repeater than my Coopers, Those small actions that Cooper used to build just work so much better with cases from Fireball and smaller.
A few years ago Walmart was blowing out 700 adl's and savage axis 2's for 79 and 99 dollars a piece. I bought dozens mostly just for the actions.
Here is the first days haul home.

Nice haul wish I had seen that too! Would have been all over that!

Now days the most expense is bullets and brass followed by barrels, I remember when rebarreling was $300 including labor, now days I can't getaway with less than $800, or more if I want a custom twist rate!

I'm with you, I have a Rem PSS in 308 that needs to get a new tube put on it, and a Annie 54 Match that needs restocked. I dread writing those checks.

I had a Remington 308 Varmint Sendero but the throat was so long on it I could drop a bullet half way down the bore! So off it went and a 1/13 Bartlein heavy palma at 26" went on it for shooting 135 grain Sierra Match Kings, then they stopped making them! Gun was a 1/2" all day shooter with that bullet and I went thru 5 boxes of 500 bullets. Now I have to find another bullet for it or get it rebarreled to a faster twist! I am looking at custom bullets now to see if I can get something in that weight class as a HPBT bullet.

I would say we will see lots of different calibers of new brass from the big boys will get harder to buy new. They can't keep up with manufacturing ammunition why would they sell brass to reloaders? Lots of powders are going up big time again soon.
22-250 brass will be available in the once fired market and by the smaller manufactures for the next 50 years at least.

I plan on buying 400 or so Lapua 308 palma brass cases and converting them to 22-250.
I did that about 10 years ago. I used Lapua 30-06 brass and formed them into 22-250, then shot them in my Ackley chambered rifle. In the end I had 100 pcs of perfectly formed brass for that gun but it was an arduous process...

I have 2 guns to keep running for P-dogs and expect the brass to last a lot longer than my Hornady or Remington brass that developed neck splits and soft primer pockets after 5 or so firings even with annealing after every firing.

Silly question, why would you form cases from 30-06 cases that were readily available from Lapua in 22-250?

How are you annealing? And what lifespan are you expecting with the load you are shooting?

I have been flame annealing for 30 years. I use the Benchmark annealer for 22-250 cases. I am not going to buy a AMP annealer at this point in my life. If I need to I can send out my brass to a friend that can run my brass thru his AMP annealer and have him run my cases thru his AutoDod to adjust neck thickness both inside and out. As to case life 7 plus reloadings is ok, I run a hot load of WW760 about 1 to 1.5 grains over max with a Hornady spire point bullet. (old design) I am also hoping that by going to SRP that I don't have to keep my loads in a cooler while shooting. 760 has some heat issues if it gets too hot, so I try to keep the loaded rounds in the 60 degree range.
