Med Kit Evolution, the Next Step up from the IFAK…

Where do you keep all the goodies that everyone tries to shove into there IFAK that should not be stuffed in their IFAKs?!

The same place you keep your licky-chewie stuff, in your Assault Pack (3 Day Pack) with the rest of your snivel gear. The med kit in the Assault Pack should be those items that are not needed for immediate life support, but are necessary for the continuance of the mission. Hence the reason you put them in with your snivel gear. This is the place you put the items that are needed more as a field treatment for you. The purpose of this kit is to keep your sorry tail in the fight when you get that headache, stuffy head, and runny nose feeling.

Like the IFAK, this is not to be a gear bag full of super goodness; it is not to be equipped like a MASH. No BP Cuff, No Stethoscope, No Sutures, No Dressings, No NPA, No Trauma crap. It is for the Snivel Gear part of YOUR Medical Gear. This is an add on layer to the IFAKs capabilities. This is the crap you need to live, not just survive. Once again, this needs to be kept light, tailor it to the amount of days you are going to be out and about. If you are going on a 3 day Patrol, do you really need a 500 pill bottle of aspirin?! Hell no you don’t! That is dead weight and space in your kit. If you need 500 pills of Aspirin if 3 days, you need a damn Doctor, cause there is something really farking wrong with you.

Like your IFAK, if you don’t know how to use it, don’t carry it. It won’t save your life or a Buddies’ if you are too ignorant to not seek out training. So get taught! There are plenty of great resources out there for to learn from. Hell, do a year as a Volunteer EMT, if nothing else. At least learn something; it will keep you and yours alive longer! Maybe…

You can share this stuff with your Buddy, but how much of a Bud is he if he didn’t bring crap for his own worthless ass…

Items to include in the AP:
Antihistamines, Moleskin, Pain Relievers, Band-Aids, Imodium, Triple Antibiotic, Butterfly Strips, Tweezers, Burn Cream, Rehydration Salts, Multivitamins, etc, etc…
