I have an old Marlin 60 that was given to me by my uncle that is in pretty bad shape. I was wanting to Duracoat it, but have never done this before. I read on Duracoat's site that you should blast with aluminum oxide 120 grit, but I don't have the means of doing this. I also read that they can be sanded down by using 600 grit sand paper. Would this give me the same results? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Presumably you are asking so you can DIY? There are a couple site advertisers who do excellent coating work, in the event that you'd like to pay and have it done. Phylodog @ NashGunWerks is in the Indy area.

Sounds like the surface just needs scuffed a little so the coating will adhere. I have not coated anything yet but I am going to try it. If you could post before and after pics that'd be cool. I'll watch this thread so I can get some tips too...Good Luck!
