I have a Marlin 336 that my father gave me a long time ago and I decided to break it out because its been a safe queen for quite a few years. I'm trying to find out what year it was made and the serial number doesn't have the letter designation? The barrel just says "micro groove barrel mod.336 cal. 30-30 win." the serial number is 27xxxxxx It has a saddle ring, gold trigger, offset low profile hammer and 3x9 busnell scope.

I remember him having it when i was a kid and getting it to deer hunt in KY but he never went. Not sure this thing has ever been fired.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    somewhere
contact the manufacturer with the SN...they will be able to tell you exactly when it was built...............other than that you'll be limited to internet searching and maybe finding an online SN catalog lookup for their guns...have you checked their website?

Yeap it is just 100 - first two numbers from about 1971 till now,

There where 69 and 70 codes that was the first 2 numbers also.

Does it happen to have an octagon barrel? It was the special rifle in 1973.
