I got my paper work off the internet, printed it and took it to the local police station. They will give you a number to call for electronic finger printing. You will have to make an appointment for the printing. I did this and had my permit in four days.

Go to the L1 service website, from there you can find their schedule and set up you appointment. You can also pay for the fingerprinting and the state fee there. Very easy to do.

That's even more work than is necessary. Go to here: Application for Handgun License

Fill it out, select the electronic fingerprinting at the end - pay online... Go get fingerprinted at L1 and then take the paper to your local department for them to finish up.
