For those in Ft. Wayne, Ossian Conservaion Club while small, isn't too far a drive. It's located about a mile off SR 1 eight miles south of Baer Field Airport. They have benches set up at 50, 100, and 150 yds. Yearly membership is $100.00 first year, then $ 50.00 a year after that.

Yes three months in advance is the deal. They have to have everything on the calender in advance so that members don't drive there expecting to be able to use the place when it's booked.

In Southern Indiana you have to following:
Open to the Public-
Clark State Forrest in Henryville, IN
Members Only-
Floyd County Coon Hunters on Gap Hallow Rd in New Albany
Floyd County Conservation Club on Georgetown-Greenville Rd in Georgetown
Southern Indiana Rifle and Pistol on Hwy 60 in Borden
Silver Creek Conservation Club on Hwy 60 in Hamburg

Anyone know of a range VERY close to columbia city? Need 100 yards. I am looking for somewhere to go at lunch to practice my offhand. I wouldn't mind having to join a club.

Roush Lake very reasonable $4.00 range fee open 6 days a week, operated by DNR (closed Monday) Ahgo and I went there today. 7yd, 25 yd, 50 yd, and 3 100 yd lanes. also have a shotgun range with a 71/2 pellet size limit.

Closest public outdoor would have to be Atterbury. (~40 mins south of indy)

Closest Free Outdoor would have to be wilbur wright. (~45-60mins east of Indy)

I'm surprised I've only seen one mention for North Porter County Conservation Club in Chesterton. Membership is required. However, they do host some excellent matches almost every weekend over the summer that are open to the public. The only requirement is the match fee and help tearing down.

Marion County fish and game is not free, but it is really close to Indy's West side, and membership is pretty reasonable.

How is Wilbur Wright? Decent range?

I made my first trip to Wilbur Wright today. I thought it was pretty decent. The longer range was pretty busy, so we went to the 25 yard range. We were shooting some .223 on the short range until the range officer asked us to stop. We shot 9mm on the shorter range until a spot opened on the other side.

No kidding, Going shooting takes all day if you live in the city, but worth it.
