The problem is more about being licensed than finding the hardware. For example, you can't carry in Illinois unless you have an Illinois license. They don't recognize any other licenses and have no reciprocity.
Is there a legal gun to carry all 50 states? (shotgun, lever action, ect...) I know we are working on Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act but is there already a gun you can carry?

Illinois recognizes a few select states, but not Indiana.
Maryland requires a fired case for "ballistic fingerprint" purposes.
- Requirement #30 fired case on file with the State of Maryland.
So, get a California approved handgun with a magazine capacity of no more than 10 rounds (the former likely subsumes the latter) that has a fired case on file in Maryland.
Now, do you want to talk local restrictions and ammunition?
Four states can get a non resident permit. Not according to USA Carry or Handgunlaw.us. Do you have any other info?
Black powder, percussion cap is your best option for being legal in as many states as possible and I'm still not sure about DC or parts of either coast.

Well, that sucks... Hmmmm...You can't even carry those without a license here, despite what the law says about them not being firearms... Some guy got caught up on it and they upheld it in court.

These guns are still legal in all 50 states.
What was the turn out? Have a link? You can't even carry those without a license here, despite what the law says about them not being firearms... Some guy got caught up on it and they upheld it in court.
One does not need an Indiana LTCH to carry blackpowder handguns or handguns made before January 1, 1899. IC 35-47-2-19.
