I feel obligated to give the man a modicum of respect in his passing. While the things being brought up are true, I also recall the circumstances of Pastor Falwell's passing. I felt it was crass of the media to bypass Falwell's colleagues as Flynt became the person sought out for interviews, but crass is the media's stock in trade. Flynt was very gracious in addressing the passing of a man of diametrically opposed values and as such, I, for one, intend to repay that courtesy in spite of Flynt living a life dedicated to choices that I do not support.

Larry Flynt is the kind of guy that could only ever happen in America. Took a bullet for the First Amendment and spent most of his life in courtrooms fighting for free speech. Where else can your civil liberties lawyer, your strip club owner, and your smut publisher be the same guy?
