I think we should plan another shoot. Maybe for mid September, when hopefully it will be a little cooler.

If you'd be in for that and have a date in mind, or one that wouldn't work, post on here. If it seems there's enough interest, I'll start a new thread

I think that may be my Dad's. I'll have to ask him.
I know he brought the black powder rifle.
I didn't know he brought the pistol.
    I'll ask.
It is Dad's. I believe it is 44 caliber though. I do know it is the Navy pistol. It was from the Boy Scouts from back when I was in for all his work.

    Great job on the photos.

I would also be up for another meet and shoot, I have missed them, especially all of you guys and gals. Weekends totally work for me.

Sounds like plenty of interest. I'll yet a new thread up and running by the weekend. Will give us plenty of time to hopefully get a good turnout

I didn't know that the Boy Scouts issued pistols.

I thought it was his from his Coast Guard days at the battle of New Orleans, long after his days with (then lieutenant) Farragut.

    Please forward to your dad.

The M'Ville troop bought it for him outta donations from the parents for all the work he did.
At least, I think it was the troop.

I should be physically able to make it by September. Dunno if I'll be back at work by then, or able to afford it if not. We will see.

As Actaeon stated, the families donated and bought one for him because of all his work and contributions. As my dad was Coast Guard, they wanted to get him the Navy pistol.

Well I know that in the reproductions of the 1851 Navy they made a .44 cal which in reality there never was a .44 cal 1851 Navy. They were all .36 cal. But none the less that was a really nice thing they did for your father and a very sharp looking pistol he has there.:)
