“You see, back in 1971, a much-younger John Kerry told WRC-TV on November 6, 1971, that he "gave back" the medals he earned with his service in Vietnam. He, along with other anti-war veterans who discarded their honors, Kerry said at the time, "decided to give them back to their country."

“When asked whether he'd returned a Bronze Star, a Silver Star, and three Purple Hearts he received for his combat service, Kerry replied that he had and "above that, gave back the others."

“Kerry was a leader among anti-war veterans and led them in a protest in Washington, D.C. According to news reports in 1971, "many veterans were seen throwing their medals and ribbons over the fence in front of the U.S. Capitol," and a handful of outlets "reported that Kerry was among these veterans," according to ABC News.“

“Kerry explained of the action that, "n a real sense, this administration forced us to return our medals because beyond the perversion of the war, these leaders themselves denied us the integrity those symbols supposedly gave our lives."

Is he wearing that purple heart medal he received for being "wounded" by a kernel of rice piece of "shrapnel" that got embedded in his ass cheek? What a disgrace.

He's a two faced disgrace who hated his country back in 1971 and evidently still hates what it stands for today. (But that doesn't stop him from enjoying the fruits of others' labor.)

Well it was 50 years ago. And you can't actually get rid of them, the awards exist whether you choose to keep the little metal and ribbon marker or not.

I'm still on the side of the veterans who hucked those things over the White House fence. One of the most powerful acts of peaceful protest in American history IMO. Just sad that a few people appropriated it for their own quest to get given power over the same war machine that killed their friends and destroyed a country they had no business being in. Hollywood grifters and wannabe politicos took advantage of other people's genuine beliefs.
