Who? Dicks?Lol they suck.
they also make you sign a form that you will store it properly and then they walk you to the door.
I'd like to see this ridiculous form.

Yeah right. Have you ever heard of that happening? I haven't.Screw rural king, support your local gun shop. As for the nics process, we are not told why you are delayed. We simply are told proceed, further review, delayed, or denied. They have 3 days to let you know what to do with a delay, if they do not contact the dealer with in 3 days, it is up to the dealer. That being said, if the dealer gives it to you after three days and then they call with a denial, expect a visit from the ATF to reclaim the firearm.

Oops... I called it a 'concealed carry' but you are absolutely correct... it's a 'license to carry'.
I understand that it has no bearing on the NICS background check - but at the same time, they had to do an NICS background check on me to approve my license to carry, didn't they? It would just seem to me that armed with my SSN and ALL of my other demographic info that this should be a very simple and relatively quick process - NOT 30+ days. The delay is exactly what you mentioned... 'delay w/o denial'.
Just saw your edit in... and it is - it was a purchase at Rural King. It's just frustrating waiting, when (even though they don't know) I know that there's no reason for it. Further, it's costing me a few bucks - there were two mfr rebates on this gun, and one of those is now past the date to obtain.
As to the walking to the door part, all big box stores do that.
I have.Yeah right. Have you ever heard of that happening? I haven't.
My local Gander Mountain stopped doing that several years ago. The new Cabela's in my area doesn't do that either.
Yeah right. Have you ever heard of that happening? I haven't.
If the denial comes after the three-day period, the dealer is contacted, according to the agency, to see if the gun was transferred.
If it was, then ATF agents must retrieve it.
“The retrieval will be routed to the ATF criminal enforcement group that handles the geographical area where the firearm was obtained,” said Gerod King, a spokesman for the ATF’s regional office in Charlotte. “Subsequently, the supervisor of that group will assign the retrieval to a special agent. The special agent will contact the prohibited person and retrieve the firearm. The United States Attorney’s Office in that district makes the decision to prosecute or not prosecute the prohibited purchaser.”
The only way he paid before approval at Rural King is he ordered the gun online at rkguns.com and had it shipped to his local store. And there is no charge for so called "re-stocking". ... You do the paperwork when you go to pick up the gun the same as you would if you bought one from anywhere and had it shipped to a ffl. And yes, we ( Rural King) will not transfer a firearm without a proceed.
... And he knew this when ordering and buying the gun online. ...
It may had been a computer glitch, a change of shift at the background check. If you have a common name it won't help. ...
I appreciate your insight. And you are exactly right... purchased at rkguns.com, shipped to the local store (nice, because there's no transfer fee for the paperwork). That's GREAT to know that there isn't a restocking fee!
Perhaps it was written there, but no... I did NOT know that. Like I said, tho - great to know that there isn't!
I do intend to wait this out - as I mentioned, there's no reason that this won't go thru, and the RK price on this gun was terrific. Even so, once I get that misdemeanor expunged, I'll try purchasing from RK one more time. If it's delayed like this again, that will be the last firearm purchase that I make there. I realize that it's not RK's fault - but if they're CHOOSING not to go ahead with the sale even when the feds say they can (in the event of delay w/o denial, like this), that IS on them. While I understand (and to a point, wholly agree on err'ing to the side of caution), I'll just go elsewhere.
I hope so. They didn't use the computer to submit; they called it in over the phone. Additionally, I DO have a common last name. Nonetheless, I did provide my SSN, so that really should be non-issue. I'm going back to the store tomorrow afternoon to fill out another 4473...

Ha! I've been called a lot of things before... but 'adorable' isn't one that I've heard lately! (I spit a little coffee on my keyboard here when I read that. )
You're probably right. Nonetheless, I've stayed on top of it with them. The fellow that I spoke to yesterday told me that he was the only one there that knew how to submit via computer (vs. calling it in) and that he'd seen that be the holdup before. Gonna fill out that 4473 again, and let him submit electronically. Mfr rebate is still valid for a month. If I don't have this before then, I will get a refund and head for the LGS...
