It's not so much that gold is rising.
It's more like the dollar, against which we gauge the price of gold, is dropping in value.

100% AGREE! Gold/Silver/USD/Chicken Eggs or whatever you're trying to barter is all about the purchasing power it holds. Nothing is ever worth more than what another person is willing to spend.

Question here. I have some junk silver and was wondering if cleaning it hurts the value? If it doesn't, what is the easiest way to clean it. Maybe even a few silver dollars. Thanks
There is n reason to clean it. As straight bullion it does not matter. If any have numismatic value cleaning will damage the value.

I found a pair of 5 oz pieces of silver in the basement yesterday. Had the son and daughter's name and birthdate on them. Although the daughter's dob was wrong by 1 year (must have been the FiL that had them made). I gave the daughter hers when they picked up the grandkids last night. Wonder how long before her and the SiL sell it.
