What about the 1500?
I've never been and always wondered.
speedway has a loc ord against concealed carry.
New law comming down the pipe here as well, Thank Johnny Nugent again, the "gun enthusiasts" best friend in this state.
Introduced Version, Senate Bill 0065
Check out SB0066 for those of you worried about that gun in your car in the company parking lot. Introduced Version, Senate Bill 0066 Still has to be passed in the next session. write your Senators,Legislators, and Congressmen to support these.
Both of those bills are dead.
9.08.020 Concealed unlawful.
It is unlawful for any individual to carry a concealed firearm within the town limits. (Ord. 358 § 2, 1966).
Yea.....looks like it died in commitee, march 14. I have e-mailed Sen. Nugent on reintroduction and any thing forum members could do to promote it.Both of those bills are dead.
From the Speedway Town Municiple Code (found via Speedway, IN Municipal Code):
9.08.020 Concealed unlawful.
It is unlawful for any individual to carry a concealed firearm within the town limits. (Ord. 358 § 2, 1966).
Does anyone know what the penalty for breaking this would be?
Just curious.
Three days in the town stockade, forfeiture of your horse, and a fine of ten bales of hay.
/It's an old ordinance.
Don't forget:
9.08.010 Discharge unlawful.*
It is unlawful for any individual person or persons to discharge within the town limits any gun, revolver, cannon, anvil or other instrument producing a like effect. (Ord. 358 § 1, 1966).
* For statutory authority relating to the discharge of firearms, see Burns Ind. Ann. Stat. § 48-301(3).
I wondered about that.
I thought they were out of session after they signed the new tax bill. You know, the one where our sales tax goes up by 16% this Tuesday.
I had to look up the definition of "anvil" to see if there was maybe some archaic use of it that I wasn't aware of. Seems to me that they were trying to backhandedly outlaw blacksmiths within town limits. I'm still scratching my head over how one "discharges" an anvil.
Geez, can you imagine trying to carry one of those IWB?

I do believe they mean an actual blacksmith anvil... I've read of various examples over about the past 150-200 years that have involved people taking two anvils... placing gunpowder between them, and igniting it... launching one into the air... from what I've read it's actually somewhat of a blacksmith tradition. It's called "anvil firing" and if I'm not mistaken there are some youtube videos of it.
