Why was the .40 chosen over the 10mm round?

    Two-fold:
    1) The FBI was having serious durability & reliability issues with the S&W 1076

    and

    2) Smaller-statured agents (including women, who the FBI was hiring at an ever-increasing rate in the early 1990s) were having a hard time qualifying with a large-frame pistol shooting full-power 10mm loads.

    Oh, here's one:
Why do people take what they read on a forum or hear in a gunshop as being remotely close to accurate?:laugh::laugh:
    J/K

    Here's an easy one:
What does the "dash" mean on Smif 'n' Wesson revolvers? as in 629-5

    random guess... Barrel Length?
so the 629-5 would be a 629 series revolver with a 5" barrel.

ok, glock question since I don't have one. What are the 3 safeties and how do they work?

    2. FIRING PIN SAFETY
    3. DROP SAFETY
    4. BRAIN SAFETY*

*Brain safety is not standard Glock factory equipment and due to the exponential number of unqualified manufacturers, quality control is at times non existent.

    Necked down .30-'06?

What is the parent case of the .204 Ruger?
Oh, and the first Ruger-named cartridge, the .480 Ruger, is a shortened what?

Parent case is the 222 Rem Mag.

.480 Ruger is shortened .475 Linebaugh.

    Trick question:
What is the bore diameter of a .303 British and a .308 Winchester, which uses larger diameter bullets and why?

    Is this cheating? :D

    rifling: Definition from Answers.com
Differences in naming conventions for cartridges can cause confusion; for example, the .303 British is actually slightly larger in diameter than the .308 Winchester, because the ".303" refers to the bore diameter in inches, while the ".308" refers to the groove diameter in inches (7.70 mm and 7.82 mm, respectively.)

It was originally chambered for the .276 Pederson, but they changed it to the .30-06 because there was a huge surplus of .30-06 ammo. Thats why we only get eight rounds in the clip instead of the 10 it was designed for.

What type of Pistol did Gen Patton carry?
