Bad guy was caught early this morning by IMPD and US Marshals. He lived a couple doors down from the officer and was (gasp) on electronic monitoring for armed robbery. My intel did not specify if it was personal or not.
Good deal! This is typical of the intelligence (or lack of) level of the run-of-the-mill crook.

    Lucky it didn't blow.

Its a lot harder than that to get it to blow up. Especially now with all the vapor capture stuff that EPA mandates. Gasoline vapor has to be somewhere between 1.5% and 7% (approximate values) of the air volume to explode. Compare it to something like ethanol (3-19%) and its a pretty narrow range. Getting enough vapor in that range to cause any sort of explosion via the filler neck and a flaming rag is unlikely at best.

Dumb is dumb, probably plead out to criminal mischief or something silly.

    Stupid should hurt.

If that's the case the perp should be hurting all over. That is one stupid dude. Glad they caught him. It would be funny if he had to clean up patrol cars as part of his punishment. The puke in the back seat from weekend drunks would be awesome. I bet that would actually be a treat compared to where they send him. Prison Guard:"This is your cell mate Bubba". Bubba: "Boy you sure are Purdy".

It is good to hear the bad guy was caught. Electronic monitoring for armed robbery? One thing's for sure, he wasn't the brains of the operation.

I did a search and didn't find this anywhere. It made the local news in Elkhart. The torcher has some big Cahonas.

IMPD squad car set on fire in officer?s driveway

Officer was sleeping with the felons wife. According to her, he has little test tackles.
Painting the officers tires pink woulda been more effective.
All this is at least possible in the (alt.universe) where I live :dunno:
    Glad no one was injured.

That joke must have sounded better in your head

    Totally agree
    Not really.
I thought it might be too edgy, but it's a hot sticky slow morning.
My point being we don't know the facts other than the patrol car was torched and the perp was a felon. All bad things granted.
    I like cops too. (some).

Come on guy, it's FindingZero. You don't have to like him to know he has a different "style".

Anyway, I'm glad no one was hurt.
I'm glad the "offender" was caught.
It sounds like the "offender" was a brainiac. Committing a crime with an ankle bracelet??????? Duh.
