The gun bug bit me 2 weekends ago. My best man took me down to Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky for my bachelor party. We shot a S&W .357 Mag, Colt .45 1911, Masuer Argentine, and a .30 Carbine. It bit me pretty hard. The Mauser was exceptionally fun to shoot. There is just something about a bolt action cannon like that. So, this past weekend was a gun show in town. I've done quite a bit of research about the Mosin Nagant. It seemed like the perfect "baseball bat that shoots dynamite" for me.

So, I went against the advice of others and bought a Mosin for my first gun. I have yet to get it stripped down and cleaned or shoot it. Life can muck things up like that. In this down time I have came to my senses and will be picking up a 10/22 to actually learn to shoot on. The Mosin is still going to be with me to make a bunch of noise.

Well, there is my story into the sport.

I plan on checking out the Wildcat Valley club near Brookston, IN. There is a nice indoor range in Lafayette to plink around in. Also, I have heard of Jasper/Pulaski State Park about an hr 1/2 north of me that has a nice range ran by the DNR. Any other NWI shooters to help me further my new hobby?

Nice choices, for firearms and ranges. It's obvious you've done some research.
