How to attach a hose reel to brick

Tapcon style screws or the included bolts and inserts?

Hose reel holds 150' of half inch hose so it will put a fair amount of outward pull on the four screws. I can get three of the four into the mortar but the fourth will be in the brick.

I was afraid of hurting my brick work, so I sunk two 6 X 6 posts about three feet from the house. They hold the Hose reel that connects via a short hose. Worked for me.

I’d use lead anchors and lag bolts. I too doubt tapcons can hold up.

I second not damaging the brick, and installing posts to mount it on.

If done properly, tapcons will hold a significant amount of weight. Conduit secured by tapcons have been known to hold a persons weight. I have used them plenty on residential side jobs as well. The brick would be minimally damaged. I try to avoid the mortar.

If you don’t feel comfortable using a hammer drill or SDS on your home… the alternative suggestion with the post might be a better choice.

Or, tapcon wood or metal plate to the wall.
And then screw the holder into the plate.

Drill holes and place 2 to 3 pieces of framing nails in the holes, then place screws in. Much better hold than any made fasteners.
