    Sometimes a turtle in a burlap bag, is a turtle in a burlap bag. During the Reagan Administration it always was.

    Pretty sure the guy was stoned too. Not a euphemism, he had been partaking in the herb.

    Last two times I picked up hitchhikers:
    Way back in the early 80s I picked up an older couple in my VW Squareback. Less that an hour later it threw a rod. We all ended up walking.

    During our AT hike back in 2013 we picked up an hitchhiker/backpacker on the Blue Ridge Parkway. She just needed to get from one parking lot to the next one. Her trail name was Shuffle, and she had obviously been on the trail for quite a while. As long as she was in the car everyone had the windows down. We were happy to wish her good hiking and drop her off.
