Marlin Stutzman (Currently an Indiana state senator) is in the race against Bayh for 2010. Take a look at his record in the Indiana house and Indiana senate, then see what his positions are on the issues.

There are a lot of them at the link (facebook-I think most of you have it) so take a look and see if you agree with him.

I know him personally and know him to be completely honest and open.

Here's his position on the 2nd Amendment. For what it's worth, it's second on his list of positions only to his pro-life position.
    2nd Amendment
“I have a consistent track record of firm support for gun owners. I’m a member of the NRA with an A+ rating, and during my time in the Indiana legislature, I helped author and pass Indiana’s lifetime handgun permit. The 2nd Amendment is not about hunting or sportsmen. Too many politicians and anti-gun interests have diluted the meaning of the 2nd Amendment down to merely something for those that enjoy the outdoors. It’s not. It’s a basic, untouchable right that the Founding Fathers revered so highly, they included it in the Bill of Rights. It’s one of our Constitutional guarantees as citizens of a free society, and in an unsafe world, it’s a guarantee to protect our families and our homes. Those that don’t share this view continually seek to erode our Constitutional rights. As your United States Senator I won’t waiver when I get to Washington. I’ll continue to be a firm and consistent defender of the 2nd amendment, and send a message to Washington that your rights aren’t up for discussion.”

On another note-Today I sent a donation to Marlin. It was my first ever contribution to any political candidate.

Hit the link. He has a great platform. Can you imagine if we could replace Bayh with STUTZMAN?

I just checked him out on Face Book and his website. Now if we can find someone to run against the liberal senior senator from Indiana I'll be a happy camper

Why in the world do you have a problem with Bayh??? It was RICHARD LUGAR who voted AGAINST the last PRO-GUN legislation.

Bayh did, in fact, vote for the national reciprocity legislation but there conventional wisdom is that he did so to gain some political cover with us 2A types because his party knew full well that the legislation would not have enough votes to pass. This is fairly typical in politics and why it is so hard to keep track of where these guys truly stand on issues.

I wrote to Bayh after that vote and thanked him. Not because I think he is a true supporter of individual rights (he has a very long record of voting to expand government, which is a VERY bad thing in my opinion), but because I'm happy to see a higher "for" vote total - regardless of who cast the votes.

I for one am not happy with how our elected officials have run amok over the past 10-15 years and have trouble giving some of them a pass while assigning all the blame to others. There is so much trickery and deceit in the political world that I find it hard to sometimes tell who, if any, or them is on the right or wrong side of an issue. IMHO - they pretty much all need to go in order to send the right message. I'm firmly in the 'oust Bayh AND Lugar' camp and think we will be far better off with a clean slate.

Bayh voted "for" legislation that had no chance of passage whatsoever. After all, he had a re-election campaign coming up so he could safely do so. This is a not uncommon tactic in Washington--let the folks who are "vulnerable" vote so as to be able to tell the people back home that they voted the way they wanted when that vote is not going to affect the outcome one way or another.

Bayh is fine. What has he done to hurt us?

1999 Senate Amendment 362 vote for further regulation of gun shows.
2004 Senate Bill 1805 Vote against protecting firearms manufacturers from nuisance suits.
2005 Senate Amendment 1626 Vote for requiring "child safety locks" on guns
2005 Senate Bill 397 Another vote against protection from nuisance suits.

More recently, his "gun issues" votes have been better, but don't forget that gun issues aren't the only things to consider either. You can see his voting record here:

Good grief no wonder Evan keeps getting re-elected. Do you people even pay attention to what politicians vote on? Here: Project Vote Smart - Senator Evan Bayh - Voting Record now do your homework and become an educated voter. Lugar is a RINO also. They both need to go. Byah has supported every one of O's appointments and was against Judge Alito and John Roberts. While he may not be the flaming Marxist that Obama or Pelosi is he is still a socialist.
If you notice, he's careful about how he votes. He won't vote for something that Hoosier's would start screaming at him (guns, abortion) but he doesn't stop voting for other gov't expanding socialist programs.
Again, they BOTH need to go. They need to be replaced with TRUE Constitutionalists, not more power hungry politicians.
Start educating all voters. That's our only chance!
