The "new" 11-coil (or is it 12? I forget now) G22 mag spring has been in the system for a couple years now; it was Glock's response to those departments who were seeing function problems when lights were attached to their G22s. I don't know if MPD just "didn't get the memo," or if the "design flaw" reported in the article is something else entirely. I wonder if MPD's experiences are related to the issues reported by fpdshooter (which caused his agency to switch to SIG) and several other departments around the country?

MILWAUKEE, WI – The Milwaukee Police Department firing range will be open around-the-clock this weekend to address a problem with the magazines used with officers’ Glock .40-caliber handguns, according to a directive from Police Chief Edward Flynn.

The department had been exchanging the magazines systematically after detecting a problem last year, but it accelerated the replacement after an officer’s gun jammed during a shootout last Saturday.

A bullet casing jammed in Officer Vidal Colon’s gun after he had fired 13 shots at Louis M. Domenech in an alleyway on the south side. Colon and Domenech were both wounded in the shootout, and both are recovering from their injuries.
Domenech was charged in the matter Thursday.

According to Flynn’s memo, officers encountered problems with the department-issued Glock handguns while shooting on the department range, and the problem was traced to a design flaw in the magazines. The manufacturer agreed to replace 2,700 magazines at no charge.

The transition to the new magazines was being done during firearms requalification, but the chief accelerated the swaps following the Colon shootout. New magazines will be issued to match 600 guns, with the training academy open 24 hours a day through Sunday, according to Flynn.

Of course it couldn't be user error, like limp wristing or something.....It has to be the product. It would be insane to show error on the officer. Amazing though that is never malfuntioned at the range!

It would be insane to prove Glocks are not perfect  The "blame the user" excuse never gets old.

ETA Why do so many other pistol function while limp wristing? It's a mass conspiracy against Glock

Reading is fundamental, emphases add for comprehension.

Also if it was user error Glock would not exchange the mags, just ask fpdshooter about their issues and the none answer Glock gave them. Nothing in this world is perfect. There are such things as manufacturing, engineering, and quality errors, and they do make it past the factory at times.

Into a backstop perhaps? Just because you don't see one it doesn't mean they're instantly idiots with guns.
