supposedly in Texas their female governor told people to drive down the interstate and toss out flower seeds. Then they had a lot of really nice flowers along the interstate.

I do not know if it was started by Governor Ann Richards, but the Highway Department in Texas spreads 10's of thousands of pounds of Blue Bell seeds every year so that travelers can view the "wild flowers".

However it happens, miles and miles of Blue Bell flowers along the highway does look pretty nice.

The offer is over, but wild flower seeds can be bought at home depot. I leave a section of weeds in a corner of my yard for the bees and they love it.
